Balloon Quilt by Pearl Loyal - 1st Place

Inspired by the Tillamook County Quilters 1994 raffle quilt, based on a pattern in Ladies Circle Patchwork magazine, 1994.  I started my version in January 1995 and finished in September 2002.  The 898 stuffed balloons took 10 minutes each to hand appliqué, equaling 150 hours of appliqué alone!  This quilt is all hand done.

67" x 85"

Kansas City Inspirations by Joan Dawson - 2nd Place
I love appliqué and I love all the old Kansas City Star patterns, so this quilt was a natural for me.

Circles of the Orient by Sue Lopez - 3rd Place Tie
I made this quilt from a picture and illustrations in the Japanese magazine, "Patchwork Quilt Tsushin".  It really would have helped if I could read Japanese!  Karin Rainier did the machine quilting.

Scrap Blossoms by Kathy Smith - 3rd Place Tie
Adapted from Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler 2001, this quilt was made for my daughter-in-law using several of her favorite fabrics.
