Chickens by Linda Tellesbo - 1st Place

From a pattern by Maggie Walker.  Two friends said 'Let's do this quilt!'.  We each worked on our own quilts, it took us over two years to complete.  Mine got done only because I broke my leg, had surgery and a long recovery that provided a lot of time to work on it.

Twirling Doves by Donna Eines - 2nd Place
This quilt was made as the result of a challenge to use a color I don't normally, use - purple.  this is as purple as I can get!

70 x 70

Hibiscus by Anne Gillihan - 3rd Place
This pattern is based on a full-sized quilt designed by Deborah Kakalia.  I reduced the design to fit the sizes I wanted; the setting is original.

36 x 36

Butterfly Garden by Joan Dawson - HM Tie
I saw this pattern in a Piece O'Cake book and as I had a new puppy, a Papillion, which translated to Butterfly Dog, I had to make this quilt.  Hand quilted.

48 x 48

Kamon - Japanese Family Crests by Shirley Miyake - HM Tie
The family crest is an ornamental emblem used by Japanese families dating back to the 11th century.  Textiles Japonica inspired me to transform 'The Miyake Mom' (middle block) from a drawing on paper to a three-dimensional piece of art on fabric.

57 x 57
