Bargello Ribbon by Deborah Medlar - 1st Place

My cousin, Bennie, had just been diagnosed with a brain tumor.  When I visited, she signed us both up for the bargello ribbon class in Hood River.  Bennie has passed on.  She would have won the contest, but when she gave me half her stash, I edged ahead.

Serenity by Maurine Roy - 2nd Place
I was looking for a way to use these wonderful fabrics without cutting them up too much, especially the background fabric by Judy Robertson.

Briar Rose by Joyce Trees - 3rd Place
Yellow is my favorite color, but after piecing the top a few years ago, I decided it had too much yellow so it put it away.  A few months ago, I finished quilting it and really liked it.  It's now one of my favorites.  A Roxanne Carter pattern.

Eat Your Veggies by Jane Ave'Lallemant - HM - Tie
I just fell in love with Ruth McDowell's book Pieced Vegetables and vowed I'd make some.  It is a somewhat tedious process until you get into it, but the blocks turn out perfect.  This is my composition of some of her blocks.  It looks fabulous in my kitchen.

Going Nowhere by Sim Wissler - HM - Tie
Curves and spirals are quilted to soften the angles of the boxed-in nine patch blocks, made form my collection of Indonesian batik fabrics.  Do the spirals spin inward or outward?  They go nowhere!  And this quilt will go nowhere either!  I made it for myself!
