Feathers for Linda by
Linda Tellesbo - 1st Place |
 |
| Based on a
;quilt in Hari Walner's book. Roxanne
Carter drafted the pattern so I could piece the
quilt. Quite the challenge - way too many
half-square triangles! I was undecided
whether to do faux or cutaway trapunto . . . see
if you can tell which process was used. |

Little Jewels by Kay Saw
- 2nd
Place |
 |
| This was
started from two $5 bags of scraps I had
purchased from a dressmaker. After cutting
up the bigger (2"x2") pieces, I was left with a
whole lot of little scraps that I just could not
bear to toss. And yes, I would willingly
do it again. |

Tilly's Turn by Carol Hill - 3rd Place |
 |
|
Remembrances
in my great-grandmother's autograph book from
the 1880s: Tilly (Caroline Myrtilla Bly
Brewer, pictured in the middle) lived in the
shadow of my great-grandfather, so this quilt is
"Tilly's Turn". I scanned the pages, my
husband Patrick spent hours cleaning up the
images, then I printed them on fabric on an
inkjet printer. Tatting, thread crochet
and cut-work embroidery pieces were made by my
grandmother, her sister Gertrude and Tilly.
Bone buttons from Tilly's wedding dress. |

East of Eden by Deborah Haynes
- HM |
 |
|
Four years ago
this started as an experiment with "stack 'n'
whack", but the blocks refused to go together -
twice - without bulges and ripples. It
went into my "mad at it" pile until last fall,
when I pulled it out and found a perfect border.
Any bulges disappeared with the "quilt the heck
out of it" method. |
