Wishful Thinking by
Jennifer Reightley - 1st Place |

| This quilt
just makes my laugh. I can just hear them:
"Some day we'll be able to spend the holidays in
the tropics, if we just wish hard enough".
I had so much fun going through my 'tropical'
stash for the penguin's outfits. |

I found Ruth

visit to a quilt shop in Sandy, Utah. |

design. When I finished this it looked so
like autumn that I wanted appliquéd leaves.
After trying many types, I settled on silk from
the craft store and echo quilted them. I
took one leaf design from the fabric, re-sized
and quilted them all over. |

Home for Christmas by Amy Myoraku - HM |

The catalyst
for this quilt was Sharyn Craig's Setting
Solutions. I added triangles to the
outside of previously pieced log cabin blocks
and suddenly they had pizzazz. Then I
added sashing to tone down the chaos. Used
all my old Christmas green and reds.
Quilted by Pam Clarke. |
