Galaxy of Colors by

| As many of
my best quilt ideas start with a challenge, this
one is no exception.. It is easy to recognize -
"Ribbons" from the Hoffman Challenge 2005.
In a way, it's surprise that it all came
together, because this quilt was a total
experiment with uncertain outcome for me and
many, many "firsts"; - odd-shaped curved-cut,
but still classic pieced, -use of velvet,
-curved and exceeding edges, -invisible binding,
-extensive, show-off machine quilting, -hundreds
of beads, -first entry in a juried, judged, even
international competition. But finally,
this quilt was awarded with the "Curators
Choice" and traveled for more than a year all
over the nation. Hand and machine pieced,
machine quilted. |

Seventh Grade
Whirlwind by Sim Wissler - 3rd Place |
 |
| For
several years I have had an idea for a quilt
with falling leaves. The seventh grade
class (Class of 1012) and their teacher from the
Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart
(Bellevue, Washington) helped to make this idea
"materialize". Last November, they used
"natures templates" and part of my batik
collection on a pieced background, creating this
unique quilt which will be part of the school's
auction in March. Machine pieced, hand and
machine quilted. |

Coy Koi by Judy

| When we
moved into our house, we also inherited a cat
and Koi pond. They have
personalities and are great fun, even in winter
during hibernation. Machine pieced,
machine quilted. |
