4500 ~ Kit / Block of the Month

Snowman Collector by Leanna Olmsted - 1st Place

I saw this quilt at a Puyallup crafts fair.  I bought the kit, Snowman Collector by The Stitch Connection, as a block of the month from a shop in California, QuuiltinCross.  I love snowmen and have an assortment of ceramic snowmen.  so this fit right in with my collection.  I am a beginning long arm quilter and after attempting to quit this one, I realize I am not ready for prime time!  But I love the quilt.  And I made this one for me. Machine pieced, machine quilted.

Dragonflies Are Free - 2nd Place
I found this kit at Tangled Threads in Lynden, WA and fell in love with it.  I loved the sense that the dragonflies are floating on air.  At my summer home in Maine, dragonflies are frequent visitors. I love how they flit and dance.  The pattern by Southwind Designs is called "Dance of the Dragonflies". Machine pieced, machine quilted.

That Damn Quilt by Corrine Schmelzer - 3rd Place
This was a row a month kit that nearly ended up a row a year!  I started in 2000 and finished in 2006.  It was a very frustrating project and there wasn't always enough fabric included.  Determine to finish it, I'd go home and work on "That Damn Quilt".  Hand and machine pieced, machine quilted.

Gee, I'm Bright by Jean Quinby - HM
This was a kit quilt, purchased in Denver 9-04.  I saw the quilt in a magazine in July with kit available.  We were going on a trip in September so I waited and purchased it then from "The Great American Quilt Factory".  Since then a book has been published with a picture on the cover like this quilt. Machine pieced, machine quilted.
