4700 ~ Miniature

Super Nova by Anne Gillihan - 1st Place

Lisa Halter and I were talking at last year's show about how few miniatures were entered and we decided that each of us would do one for this year's show.  Saw a line drawing of the large star in an old book and decided it would make a great miniature.  And a large star has to have small one around it, right? Machine pieced, hand quilted.

I thought it would be fun to do a small quilt.  I used Karen McTavish's books "Mastering the Art of McTavishing" and "The Secrets of Elemental Quilting" for my design ideas and practiced making really small feathers.  And . . it was fun. Machine pieced, machine quilted.

Winter of '05-'06 by Leona Broers - 3rd Place
This past winter has been one we will not soon forget!  I thought this miniature would be a gentle reminder of all those snowy days.  The pattern is from Issue #32 of Miniature Quilts.  Machine pieced, hand quilted.
