| I decided this summer to take a quilting
class. Naturally, my first quilt had to be made
for the most precious thing on earth , my
grandaughter, Chanelle. This quilt represents
the importance of appreciating her diverse
heritage. The fabric I chose symbolizes the
incorporation and beauty of diversity. |

The Light Within by

| This is my second quilt, made in December
2006. I was making house potholders for holiday
gifts, and ended up making this quilt instead.
My father had died that fall, and I remember
feeling it was important that each house
appeared to have light inside. When the quilt
was done, I realized I was creating images of
the light that was still inside me, even though
I didn't feel it at the time. |
