Columbia National Wildlife Refuge by Patricia Federighi - 1st Place

The colors of spring at the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge near Moses Lake, Washington, inspired this quilt. Other images of the refugue--grasses, leaves, creek bed pebbles, feathers, heat waves--are incorporated into the quilting.

Dove in the Windows by O'Della Kelley - 2nd Place
I have a quilt (in tattered treads) made by my fathers - mothers - mother and it is this same pattern. Since I was not able to restore it I chose to make a quilt of the same pattern for my self. It took me at least 10 years to finish this quilt. It hangs upon one of the walls in my home.

Round Robin Baskets in the Shadows by Beckie Hansen - 3rd Place
Project was started at Patchwork University, probably 1996. Started with the center as a round robin then added the drunkards path. One long wet winter at the beach I did the outer shadow in a shadow baskets. The small flowers in the baskets are not paper foundation and there are, if memory serves me, 196 of them. This was my year to finish projects that were UFOs. This was the largest and possibly the oldest.
