2600 ~ Appliqué

Last Branch by Pam Pifer - 1st Place

The block pattern for this quilt is from Traditional Quiltworks, Jan. 1995. It was designed to be hand-pieced, but adapting it to make a foundation paper-pieced pattern allowed me to appliqué the points of each block to the background. I then designed the appliqué border, using 1/8" corded piping in the curves.

Flowers of Provence by Linda Simmons - 2nd Place
Inspired by a painting, the colors, shapes, and overall composition lent themselves to this needleturn appliqué with embroidery embellishments.

Mary's Quilt by Sarah Newman - 3rd Place tie
Dyeing the wool was such fun...in fact took the class 4 times from Sherie Thomas! My sister Mary was a participant in several studies at the U of W Medical Center and this was my hand work.

After seeing the first $100,00 Quilting Challenge Magazine, I went to work on my first art quilt.

Spring Bouquet by Donne Eines - HM
I love both appliqué and pieced quilts, so I had to insert a little piecing in this appliqué quilt.
